Donations & Bequests

The Trolleybus Museum is always interested in considering offers for the loan or donation of transport related collections (including photographic collections) or artefacts, and items relevant to the social history of the 1950s and 1960s, for inclusion in its archives and displays. Likewise, it is also interested in bequests of such collections and items.

Each collection or item will be considered on its own merits and the Trolleybus Museum cannot guarantee it will be able to accept a collection or item. Therefore, if you plan to donate large items or consignments, or will have to travel a long distance, it is advisable to check that we are likely to be interested in the object(s) first. Enquiries and offers can be made by e-mail or by writing to the Company Secretary at the Museum address.

The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft is a Registered Charity (no.514382), and depends on donations and fundraising efforts generally, so always welcomes monetary donations and bequests, be they for specific projects or intended for the general operation and enhancement of the Museum.

We encourage donations by individuals to be made by way of Gift Aid as this enables the Museum to claim from HM Revenue & Customs the tax paid by the individual concerned on that donation, so enhancing the donation by 25%. Donating via Gift Aid is a simple process and you can download a Gift Aid declaration form here to accompany your donation or you can obtain one when visiting the Museum. For more information about Gift Aid, click here.

We are not able to process Gift Aid claims on monetary donations from organisations, although to their benefit, some organisations may be able to offset donations to us (as a registered charity) against Corporation Tax.

Donations may be

  • handed in at the Museum
  • sent by post to the Museum address - (cheques should be made payable to "The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft"). Please do not send cash to us by post
  • Via internet banking to our account:

Sort Code: 40-19-20
Account Number: 71349317
Account Name: Sandtoft Transport Centre Ltd

Making a bequest to a Registered Charity in your will may reduce, or even eliminate, Inheritance Tax liabilities. Advice on making a will, and bequests to a charity, should be sought from a legal or financial advisor.

If you are considering making a bequest to the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft in your will and would like to discuss it in confidence, please make contact with the Financial Director, either by email, or by writing to the Museum address.
